Jordi Alba announces his retirement from professional football
The decorated Spanish defender joined Valencia CF at the age of 18, the Club where he grew and was given the opportunity to make his LALIGA debut
On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, Jordi Alba announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the current season. The current Inter Miami CF player leaves the sport after an outstanding career and a decorated record with more than 20 titles won.
The Catalan full-back arrived in the capital of Turia at just 18 years old with many dreams to fulfil. He did not take long to achieve the first one as a professional with Valencia CF. His remarkable performance during the 2009/10 pre-season allowed him to make his LALIGA debut against Real Valladolid CF at the José Zorrilla Stadium - a memory he will never forget. From that moment, he grew as a player, and his speed and agility on the left flank made him a regular for the team coached by Unai Emery.
